Welcome to my blog and my little world

First off, let me congratulate myself since if you’re reading this, it means someone out there has stumbled upon my blog.

Just so we’re on first name basis, my name is Nasira Bhamjee. I am a 27 year old ex-lawyer, current kickboxing instructor, writer and master procrastinator who recently added to my a resume my newest and most challeging role, Mum. When I’m not manufacturing warrior women in my backyard, cooking up 10 minute meals or writing, I can be found in my family home in Johannesburg, trying to sort through an undisciplined house and drawing up a growing number of incomplete to do lists.

Well now that the ice is broken, lets get right into it.

This blog is for the women that society taught to only be one thing.

This blog is for the woman that feels like she can’t cope with all the roles she is expected to fill.

This blog is for the woman who feels like she forgot to take care of herself in her attempts to take care of those around her.

This blog is for the woman who are sick and tired of being told what to do and have decided to start doing things for themselves.

This blog is for you and me. Women. Powerful, fierce, unstoppable forces that we are.

I started this blog because I know how challenging it can be to balance all the things we’re expected to do as women, including taking care of ourselves, our kids, our families and our homes. As a mum, business owner and women, I would like to create a platform to share my fitness knowledge with you and to be able to present honest discussions, tips, inspiration and so much more that will hopefully motivate us to become the best versions of ourselves.

Society tries to teach us that we can only be one thing at a time. They try to box us into little categories to ensure that we are ever thinking out of the box. You can either be a good stay at home wife, or a career women. You can either be girly and feminine or sporty. When we become Mothers it only gets worse. Now instead of being one whole thing, we can only ever be half. Part-time Mum, Part-time Kickboxer, Part-time Writer.

As a practicing Muslim, my religion teaches me otherwise. I have the choice to be anyone I want to be: Mum, Kickboxer, Writer or anything else that I choose within the limits of my Deen. My daughters birth did not mean the demise of my former self. I am still everything I used to be and yet so much more. And when it gets tough, I just strap up my gloves, wink at my little warrior-princess and thank the Almighty for making me all that I am.

MUM. KICKBOXER. WRITER. WOMAN.

Join me as I share my adventures through fitness, motherhood and all the other wonderful and challenging aspects of life as a Muslim woman!
